2007 Reunion Highlights

The 2007 Tuy Hoa AB Reunion was held at the MCM Elegante hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 7-10, 2007.

We had 66 veterans, wives and friends. We had a group from the 188th TFS that was based in ABQ who flew out of Tuy Hoa in 1968. The group from ABQ included Mel Montayo (MG) retired. Mel addressed the group as our guest speaker at the Saturday night dinner.

We also were joined by a couple Army vets Earl Waters out of the 1st CAV. and Jim Fiel (Col) 173rd AB.

We boarded buses for a trip down to Old Town on Friday and then went to the ABQ Veterans Memorial for a memorial service for our fallen comrades.

We were blessed to have Bill Horn, a well known Bagpiper play "Amazing Grace" after the names were read by Chaplain Ray Ruff. A wreath was presented at that time. We were to get a guided tour of the Memorial; but the heat was taking a toll on some so we headed back to the hotel.

Saturday night was the dinner and Auction MC'd by Dennis "JR Starr" Bechtel. The dinner and auction was well done and we were able to put some money back into the reunion fund for the next reunion.

Thanks to all the reunion committee members who made this successful; Jack McCloskey, Paul and Debbie Goodrich, George and Georgette Bontya, Ray and Sylvia Ruff, Dennis and Suzane Bechtel, Doug and Pat Gardner, Jesse and Linda Flinchem, Mike and Jan Spencer, Bobby and Jane White. All of you who attended this reunion, we thank you! May GOD bless and we hope to see you in Myrtle Beach, NC in Sept. 2009.
